Firebox (a.k.a. FYVM) began as
the union of vocalist/flutist Lory Lacy and guitarist Joe Zuptich. They
combined their diverse influences in 2001 to create a powerful,
honest approach to hard rock. In September of 2003, the duo
relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, changed their name to Firebox
and are currently performing as a cover band, while they write and
record new material. Hey it beats digging ditches for a living.
Although heavily trained in
classical music, Lory Lacy, lists her instrumental influences as
being rock guitarists, such as Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen,
rather than wind players. Her vocal style ranges from a soft,
sultry pathos to a relentless, full-voiced high end designed
exclusively for rock.
